Camera Consent

Offering choices around enabling camera access

We want to shift the dominant digital culture from being image based,  to being consent based. Image based communication methods have numerous benefits but can also be coercive.

You can create safety in the digital space through camera consent. Let's support ourselves and others to make choices about how our images are used and accessed.

You can do this by:

  • Offering clear expectations on when image based communication is needed.

  • Affirm people do not need to be on camera to communicate with you, and they can turn their camera off at any time.

Practice this in your daily life by normalizing that people don't need to be on camera to connect and communicate.

We can work to shift image based communication methods from being the dominant digital culture.

We are all in a relationship with technology.
